The Toyota JPN Taxi Concept was seen for the first time at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car was also showcased at the same show in 2015. According to the Japanese automobile manufacturer, the new car will be an extraordinary taxicab. It will be taller and roomier to respectively dominate the road and cater for more cab customers at once.

Toyota JPN Taxi Concept – Innovative Hybrid Powertrain:
Under the hood, the Toyota JPN Taxi will have an innovative hybrid powertrain. This will consist of a 2.0-liter I4 engine and an electric motor. The engine is rated 111 hp and 130 lb-ft, and when combined with the motor, the total power and torque output will be around 190 hp and 160 lb-ft. The powerhouse will work with either 4-speed automatic, 4-speed manual or 5-speed manual.
Being a hybrid car, it will consume less fuel and give out reduced emissions. You can look forward to fuel consumption figures of around 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The CO2 emission figures will be within the range accepted by environmental protection agencies.

Toyota will definitely pay much attention to the safety and security of the upcoming taxi car. You can expect the car to feature all kinds of protection features. Some of them include seatbelts, airbags, blind-spot monitoring system, lane-keep assist, ABS, vehicle stability assist, security alarms, adaptive cruise control, rearview camera and keyless entry.
Toyota JPN Taxi Concept – Release Date and Price:
As it stands, the price of the upcoming Toyota taxicab is not clear, but an estimated starting price of $25,000 is highly anticipated. If there will be models with premium features, we expect them to sell at higher prices. Concerning the release date, the car will be available in the first half of 2018. There is no doubt about this since the car is currently in a concept form.
There are only a few cars that are similar to the JPN Taxi, so the competition will be low for the upcoming car. The most likely rivals include Geely Taxi TX4, Volkswagen Multivan, Peugeot 5008, Ford Grand C-Max and Mazda 5.
